El hermoso territorio que abre las puertas al occidente asturiano es un encantador rincón repleto de experiencias únicas por descubrir con paisajes singulares y variados que pasan por las amplias vegas del Narcea, río salmonero por excelencia, las panorámicas montañas de la sierra de Curiscao, que van desde la cordillera hasta el Cantábrico, coronadas por el pico Aguión, o el espacio agroganadero legado de los vaqueiros.

Salas combina belleza natural, tradiciones y una rica historia que se extiende desde el neolítico hasta la minería romana, visible en sus necrópolis y asentamientos. Explorar este legado mediante senderismo y ciclismo es ideal gracias a la Red Ciclo-Senderista. El Santuario del Viso, entre bosques de pino, ofrece rutas de senderismo que conectan con otros itinerarios con paisajes variados e inigualables como la famosa cascada de Nonaya. El Camino Primitivo conecta Oviedo con Santiago a través del occidente asturiano, pasando por el municipio de Salas. Este Camino, importante eje en la Red Ciclo-Senderista, atraviesa varias poblaciones a lo largo de su recorrido, ofreciendo una diversidad de paisajes.

This beautiful territory that opens the doors to western Asturias is a charming spot full of unique experiences to discover, with distinctive and varied landscapes that range from the wide meadows of the Narcea, a river renowned for its salmon fishing, to the panoramic mountains of the Curiscao range that stretches to the Cantabrian Sea and is crowned by Mount Aguión, or the agricultural legacy of the “vaqueiros”.

Salas combines natural beauty, traditions, and a rich history that spans from the Neolithic period to Roman mining and is visible in its necropolises and settlements. Exploring this legacy by hiking and cycling is ideal thanks to the Cycle-Hiking Network. The Sanctuary of El Viso, amidst pine forests, offers hiking routes that connect with other itineraries featuring varied and unparalleled landscapes such as the famous Nonaya waterfall. The Camino Primitivo (The Primitive Way) connects Oviedo to Santiago through western Asturias, passing through the municipality of Salas. This route, an important axis in the Cycle-Hiking Network, crosses several towns along its path, offering a diversity of landscapes.
