LA PUNTA DE ASTURIAS CON ENCANTO

El Cabo Peñas, con su visitado Faro que alberga el Centro de Interpretación del Medio Marino de Peñas, marca el punto más al norte del Principado de Asturias y el segundo de la península ibérica. Su belleza parece dejar al mar Cantábrico el remate de un paisaje espectacular con sus acantilados y vistas a la isla de la Erbosa. Desde allí se puede disfrutar de una senda con increíbles panorámicas hasta el Faro de San Juan de Nieva a través del Paisaje Protegido del Cabo Peñas. Pero el concejo de Gozón es mucho más, ya que atesora preciosas playas naturales como las de Verdicio o Xagó y urbanas como la de La Ribera en Luanco, donde se celebra cada domingo de Resurrección la ancestral procesión de La Venia y en agosto el Torneo Internacional de Tenis Playa, único en el mundo sobre arena de playa.

La villa marinera de Luanco tiene un bonito casco histórico con elementos como La Torre del Reloj, el Palacio de la Pola o la Iglesia de Santa María de Luanco. La visita a esta Villa marinera no puede olvidarse del Museo Marítimo de Asturias, decano de los museos asturianos, y al viejo muelle pesquero que es el verdadero epicentro turístico de esta Villa del centro del Principado.

ASTURIAS’ CHARMING NORTHERN POINT

Cape Peñas, with its popular lighthouse housing the Peñas Marine Environment Interpretation Center, marks the northernmost point of the Principality of Asturias and the second most of the Iberian Peninsula. Its beauty seems to crown the Cantabrian Sea, the finishing touch to a spectacular landscape with its cliffs and views of the island of Erbosa. From there, you can enjoy a path to the San Juan de Nieva Lighthouse through the Protected Landscape of Cape Peñas with its incredible panoramic views. But the municipality of Gozón is so much more, as it has beautiful natural beaches such as Verdicio and Xagó and urban ones like La Ribera in Luanco, where the ancestral procession of La Venia is takes place every Easter Sunday and in August the International Beach Tennis Tournament, the only one of its kind in the world on beach sand, is held.

The fishing town of Luanco has a beautiful historic quarter with monuments such as the Clock Tower, the Palace of La Pola, and the Church of Santa María de Luanco. A visit to this seaside town cannot fail to include the Maritime Museum of Asturias, the oldest Asturian museum, and the old fishing pier, which is the real tourist focal point of this town in the centre of the Principality.
