En el extremo oriental de Asturias, haciendo frontera con Cantabria, Ribadedeva es un concejo pequeño en tamaño, pero inmenso en riqueza patrimonial y por su singular belleza. Colombres, su capital, acoge el Archivo de Indianos, principal centro documental de la emigración asturiana a América, ubicado en la emblemática Quinta Guadalupe.

Destacan, entre muchos atractivos, la Ruta de Indianos en la que se pueden admirar las casonas de quienes emigraron, la Cueva del Pindal, Patrimonio de la Humanidad con arte rupestre, el Camino de Santiago del Norte, así como los Bienes de Interés Cultural del casco histórico de Colombres y la Torre de Noriega.

Su costa, especialmente bien conservada y protegida, ofrece playas únicas como La Franca, Bendía o El Regolgueru, y es que Ribadedeva combina historia, naturaleza y mar, con el ritual del escanciado, la influencia cántabra y la distinción de “Pueblo Ejemplar 2015” otorgado a Colombres.

Culture and Nature

Tucked into the easternmost corner of Asturias, on the border with Cantabria, Ribadedeva may be small in size but it is rich in heritage and natural beauty. Its capital, Colombres, is home to the Archivo de Indianos, the main archival centre documenting Asturian emigration to the Americas, housed in the iconic Quinta Guadalupe.

Among its many highlights are the Ruta de Indianos, a walking route showcasing the grand homes of those who emigrated and later returned; the Pindal Cave, a UNESCO World Heritage Site featuring prehistoric cave art; the Northern Route of the Camino de Santiago; and several officially protected cultural landmarks, including the historic centre of Colombres and the Tower of Noriega.

Its unspoilt coastline offers some of the region’s most beautiful beaches, including La Franca, Bendía, and El Regolgueru. Ribadedeva blends history, nature, and the sea with the ritual of cider pouring, a touch of Cantabrian influence, and the honour of Colombres being named “Exemplary Town” in 2015.
