FIESTAS DE SAN MATEO

SEPTIEMBRE

Son las principales y más populares fiestas de Oviedo, que acoge a miles de visitantes y se llena de actividades y de música durante dos semanas. El día grande es el 21 de septiembre, Día del Bollo, mientras que el Día de América en Asturias, fiesta de interés turístico nacional, la cita es el 19 y se trata de un colorido desfile folclórico y de carrozas que rememora el hermanamiento de Asturias y América ligadas por la emigración.

These are Oviedo’s main and most popular celebrations, drawing thousands of visitors and filling the city with music and events for two weeks. The big day is September 21st, known as Día del Bollo, while Día de América en Asturias, a National Tourist Interest Festiva, takes place on the 19th. This colourful parade of floats and folk groups commemorates the deep ties between Asturias and the Americas, forged through migration.

FIESTA GASTRONÓMICA DEL DESARME

Desde hace más de medio siglo, los establecimientos gastronómicos de la ciudad se preparan con entusiasmo para ofrecer el famoso menú del Desarme, una tradición arraigada que se celebra cada 19 de octubre. Este suculento banquete consiste en garbanzos con bacalao y espinacas, callos a la asturiana y arroz con leche. No solo es una experiencia culinaria deliciosa y satisfactoria, sino también una oportunidad única para conmemorar un importante acontecimiento histórico que tuvo lugar en la primera mitad del siglo XIX, vinculado a las Guerras Carlistas.

DISARMAMENT GASTRONOMIC FESTIVAL

For more than half a century, the city’s restaurants have eagerly prepared to offer the famous Desarme menu, a deeply rooted tradition celebrated every October 19th. This hearty banquet consists of chickpeas with cod and spinach, Asturian-style tripe, and rice pudding. It is not only a delicious and satisfying culinary experience, but also a unique opportunity to commemorate an important historical event that took place in the first half of the 19th century, linked to the Carlist Wars.
