FIESTAS DE SAN MATEO

Las fiestas patronales de Oviedo se extienden durante más de diez días e incluyen el tradicional pregón y chupinazo, importantes conciertos, casetas gastronómicas, la espectacular noche de los fuegos artificiales el 20 de septiembre, víspera de San Mateo con el tradicional bollo preñau. Oviedo se viste de gala para celebrar sus fiestas en una oportunidad única para compartir y vivir sus tradiciones con alegría y hospitalidad.

Oviedo’s patron saint festivities last for more than ten days and include the traditional opening address and chupinazo, major concerts, gastronomic stalls and the spectacular fireworks display on 20 September, the eve of Saint Matthew’s Day, when the traditional bollo preñau takes centre stage. Oviedo dresses in its finest for the celebrations, offering a unique opportunity to experience its traditions and hospitality.

FIESTA GASTRONÓMICA DEL DESARME

OCTUBRE

Desde hace muchos años los establecimientos gastronómicos de la ciudad ofrecen el famoso menú del Desarme, una tradición arraigada que se celebra en el entorno del 19 de octubre. Consiste en garbanzos con bacalao y espinacas, callos a la asturiana y arroz con leche para conmemorar un importante acontecimiento histórico que tuvo lugar en la primera mitad del siglo XIX, vinculado a las Guerras Carlistas.

DISARMAMENT GASTRONOMIC FESTIVAL

For many years, restaurants throughout the city have served the famous Desarme menu, a deeply rooted tradition celebrated around 19 October. The menu consists of chickpeas with cod and spinach, Asturian-style tripe and rice pudding, commemorating a significant historical event that took place during the first half of the 19th century and is linked to the Carlist Wars.

Este colorido y espectacular desfile folclórico y de carrozas por las calles de Oviedo destaca la cultura asturiana y la de los países latinoamericanos a los que los asturianos han emigrado tradicionalmente. Cada 19 de septiembre, en pleno San Mateo, esta celebración une y muestra la diversidad cultural, honrando los lazos históricos entre Asturias y otras partes del mundo.

A colourful parade of floats and folklore through the streets of Oviedo, this celebration showcases both Asturian culture and that of the Latin American countries to which generations of Asturians emigrated. Held each year on 19 September during the San Mateo festivities, it celebrates this shared cultural diversity while honouring the historic ties between Asturias and other parts of the world.
