MUSEO ETNOGRÁFICO DE QUIRÓS
Entre montañas y antiguos paisajes industriales, el concejo de Quirós guarda uno de los espacios culturales más singulares de Asturias: el Museo Etnográfico de Quirós.
En la Reserva de la Biosfera de Las Ubiñas-La Mesa, este museo, edificado sobre los restos de unos altos hornos del siglo XIX, permite descubrir cómo la vida tradicional asturiana fue transformándose con la llegada de la minería y la siderurgia. Sus salas recrean con gran detalle la esencia de la montaña central asturiana, mostrando la vida cotidiana de las familias campesinas, sus oficios, costumbres y formas de convivencia.
La visita recorre una auténtica casa quirosana donde el “llar”, las cuadras, el lagar o los talleres artesanos evocan escenas de otro tiempo. En las plantas superiores aparecen los trabajos femeninos, las romerías populares y la música tradicional, mientras que en el exterior se conservan elementos tan representativos como el hórreo, la escuela rural y antiguas estructuras industriales. Un viaje a la memoria viva de Asturias.

Nestled among mountains and the remnants of Asturias’s industrial past, the municipality of Quirós is home to one of the region’s most distinctive cultural attractions: the Ethnographic Museum of Quirós.
Located within the Las Ubiñas–La Mesa Biosphere Reserve, the museum stands on the remains of 19th-century blast furnaces and offers a fascinating insight into how traditional Asturian life evolved with the arrival of mining and the iron industry. Its galleries vividly recreate the essence of Asturias’s central mountain region, exploring the daily lives of rural families, their trades, customs and ways of life.
The visit takes visitors through an authentic Quirós farmhouse, where the llar (hearth), stables, cider press and artisan workshops evoke scenes from another era. On the upper floors, exhibitions highlight women’s work, traditional pilgrimages and folk music, while outside, emblematic features such as a hórreo, a rural schoolhouse and historic industrial structures have been carefully preserved.
