El arte del vino, el vino del arte

Desde su nacimiento, ENATE apostó por el arte como seña de identidad. Se trataba, por supuesto, de elaborar el mejor vino de la DOP Somontano, pero también de aportar a la sociedad elementos culturales. De ahí que su primera etiqueta, en el ya lejano año 1992, la del ENATE Chardonnay fermentado en barrica, fuera una obra de Antonio Saura, que hoy sigue visitando miles de mesas cada año.

Larga, muy larga es la nómina de artistas que han contribuido a vestir las botellas de ENATE, como Antoni Tapies, Eduardo Chillida, Rafael Canogar, José Manuel Broto, Víctor Mira, Pepe Cerdá, Salvador Victoria, José Beulas, Gustavo Torner, Frederic Amat, Eduardo Arroyo, además de muchos otros. Y parte de esta obra, más de cien originales, se exhibe permanentemente en la Sala de Exposiciones de la bodega, conformando un insólito museo entre botellas y viñedos.

Pero la bodega va más allá, pues patrocina becas para artistas, presenta sus vinos en pinacotecas, presta obras para exposiciones… El perfecto complemento para unos vinos únicos, cuyas variedades principales -cabernet sauvignon, merlot, syrah, chardonnay y gewürztraminer- han encontrado en el Somontano el mejor lugar para expresarse.

Since it was born, ENATE took art as its mark of identity. The goal was, of course, to elaborate the best wine of the Protected Designation of Origin Somontano, but also to provide cultural elements to the society. That is why their first label, in 1992, of the ENATE Chardonnay came by the hand of Antonio Saura, a label that still visits thousands of tables a year.

The list of artists who have dressed the ENATE bottles is long, very long, artists like Antoni Tàpies, Eduardo Chillida, Rafael Canogar, José Manuel Broto, Víctor Mira, Pepe Cerdá, Salvador Victoria, José Beulas, Gustavo Torner, Frederic Amat, Eduardo Arroyo, and many others. And part of the collection, more than a hundred pieces, is permanently exhibited in the Exhibition Room of the winery, creating an unbelievable museum between bottles and vineyards.

But the winery’s labor goes beyond, for it offers grants for artists, presents its wines in picture galleries, lends pieces for exhibitions… The perfect accessory for unique wines, whose principal varieties —Cabernet Sauvignon, Merlot, Syrah, Chardonnay and Gewürztraminer- have found, in the Somontano region, the best way to express themselves.
